The Chop House - Broadway

Saturday evening, I dined at The Chop House on Broadway with my sister & her husband. I had eaten at the Kingston Pike location a couple of years ago, and had been thinking about their Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes ever since, so naturally, I started off with those. They were every bit as good as I remembered them to be. They start with a sweet, delicious, golden corn cake and top it with fresh sliced avocado, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and sour cream, and surround it with a chipotle ranch dressing. It's unlike anything I've ever had.

After nearly filling up on corn cakes, I had The Chop House Pork Chop, which they tout as their house specialty. It was thick, juicy & cooked to perfection, and the orange marmalade sauce it is served with is the perfect accompaniment. As a side, I chose the baked potato, which was cooked the way you expect a baked potato to be.

My sister had ordered a Homemade Blue Crabcake along with her grilled chicken. I sampled it, and it was pretty good, although it wasn't of the chunky crab meat variety. She indicated that her chicken was pretty good, and her husband seemed to enjoy his Lobster Alfredo.

We were too stuffed for dessert, but I have had their cheesecake, and it does not disappoint. When I ate at the Kingston Pike location, I learned that they imported their cheesecake from Carnegie Deli in New York City daily. Carnegie Deli is legendary for its New York Cheesecake, and you can enjoy it right here in Knoxville thanks to The Chop House.

So aside from the food being really delicious, service was mediocre. Our waitress was very forgetful (she forgot to serve my sister's husband his soup, among other things), and gave me the wrong credit card back after I paid my ticket, which was a hefty $27.00 before tip just for me.

Overall, though, I would highly recommend The Chop House, not the least of all for the corn cakes.
